A Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE®) is a licensed healthcare professional who has demonstrated advanced knowledge and skills in diabetes care, management, and education by successfully passing the Canadian Diabetes Educator Certification Board (CDECB) examination. CDEs also maintain certification through ongoing education and practice, ensuring patients receive up-to-date and effective diabetes support.
At Laurel Pharmacy Clinic, our pharmacist is a Certified Diabetes Educator with Additional Prescribing Authority (APA). This means we can prescribe and adjust treatments, including medications and insulin, when appropriate. We always collaborate and communicate with your primary care provider and/or specialist to make sure your care is safe, consistent, and well-coordinated.
