Patient Privacy

At Laurel Pharmacy Clinic and Compounding, your privacy is very important to us.
When you come to see us, we assume you consent to our collection, use, and sharing of your personal health information for the purpose of providing you with healthcare — unless you tell us otherwise.

We only collect, use, and share your personal health information to provide or help coordinate your care with other healthcare providers, or otherwise with your consent, or as permitted by law governing the confidentiality of health information.

Please talk to our pharmacist if you:

  • Have questions about how we collect, use, or share your personal health information.

  • Want to make a privacy-related complaint.

  • Wish to exercise your privacy rights, including the right to:

    • Get a copy of your health record.

    • Correct incomplete or inaccurate information in your record.

    • Ask us not to collect, use, or share your health information for certain purposes.

You also have the right to file a complaint with the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta (OIPC) if you believe a decision, action, or inaction does not comply with the law.

Regulatory Notice

The licensee is required to provide, on the request of a patient, the name and practice permit number of any regulated member who provides a pharmacy service to the patient or who engages in the practice of pharmacy with respect to a patient.

Patient Concerns

The Alberta College of Pharmacy governs the pharmacy professions in Alberta to support and protect the public’s health and well-being.
The College takes responsibility for pharmacy practice by setting and enforcing high standards of competence and ethical conduct.
Patients who have concerns about the pharmacy services they receive are encouraged to discuss the problem directly with the pharmacist or pharmacy technician.
Every pharmacy also has a licensee, responsible for the policies and procedures at the pharmacy, who can address your concerns. If necessary, you may ask to speak to the licensee.
